How to Clean the Archon Type B

Proper maintenance of your Archon Type B ensures optimal performance, reliability, and longevity. Follow this detailed factory-recommended cleaning guide to safely clean and lubricate your firearm.

What You’ll Need (hover over “Cleaning Gear” in navigation menu):

✔️ Cleaning mat or soft cloth (to protect your work surface)
✔️ Nylon cleaning brush (manufacturer-supplied or aftermarket)
✔️ Cotton patches or lint-free cloth
✔️ Cleaning solvent (non-abrasive gun cleaner)
✔️ Gun oil/lubricant (use sparingly as recommended)
✔️ Bore brush (nylon or bronze) and cleaning rod

Step 1: Ensure the Firearm is Unloaded

  1. Remove the magazine and set it aside.

  2. Lock the slide back and visually inspect the chamber to ensure it is empty.

  3. Physically check the chamber with your finger to confirm it is clear.

  4. Release the slide and point the firearm in a safe direction.

  5. Press the trigger to release the striker (required for disassembly).

Step 2: Field Strip the Archon Type B

  1. Pull the slide slightly back (about ¼ inch).

  2. Rotate the takedown lever downward into the 6 o’clock position.

  3. Push the slide forward and remove it from the frame.

  4. Remove the recoil spring assembly by carefully pulling it out.

  5. Remove the barrel from the slide.

(No further disassembly is recommended unless performed by a certified armorer.)

Step 3: Cleaning the Barrel

  1. Attach a cleaning patch soaked in solvent to the cleaning rod and run it through the bore.

  2. Let the solvent sit for a few minutes to loosen fouling and carbon buildup.

  3. Use a nylon or bronze bore brush to scrub the barrel’s interior.

  4. Pass dry patches through the bore until they come out clean.

  5. Run a lightly oiled patch through the bore for rust protection.

Step 4: Cleaning the Slide

  1. Wipe down the interior and exterior of the slide using a cloth or cleaning patches.

  2. Use a nylon brush and solvent to clean around the breech face, extractor, and striker channel (avoid excessive solvent inside the striker channel).

  3. Remove any buildup and dry the slide thoroughly.

  4. Apply a very small amount of lubricant to the slide rails and contact points.

Step 5: Cleaning the Frame

  1. Use a dry cloth or brush to remove dirt and fouling from the frame.

  2. Pay close attention to the rails, trigger assembly, and fire control components.

  3. Wipe down the frame’s internals with a lightly oiled patch, ensuring no excess oil remains.

Step 6: Lubricating the Archon Type B

Minimal lubrication is required—over-oiling can attract dirt and cause malfunctions. Apply one drop of oil to the following areas:

Barrel exterior – Apply a light coat on the barrel and locking lugs.
Slide rails – Apply a tiny drop along each slide rail.
Recoil spring assembly – A small amount of oil on the metal guide rod.
Barrel hood – A drop where the barrel contacts the slide.

(Do NOT lubricate the striker channel or magazine well!)

Step 7: Reassembly & Function Check

  1. Insert the barrel back into the slide.

  2. Reinstall the recoil spring assembly, ensuring it is seated properly.

  3. Align the slide with the frame rails and push it back into place.

  4. Rotate the takedown lever back to the horizontal position.

  5. Perform a dry fire test to confirm proper function.

Step 8: Final Wipe Down

Use a clean, dry cloth to remove any excess oil or fingerprints.

How Often Should You Clean Your Archon Type B?

🔹 After each shooting session
🔹 If the firearm is exposed to dirt, sweat, or moisture
🔹 At least once a month for storage maintenance

Following this manufacturer-recommended cleaning process will keep your Archon Type B in peak condition for long-term reliability and performance.
